“Embracing Your Freedom” with Susie Larson – Sunday, March 28th

March 13th, 2010

With the excitement still fresh from our time with Lisa Whelchel, LATTE is proud to bring you  another dynamic speaker for one of our regular Sunday night events.  With enthusiasm, humor, and conviction, author/speaker Susie Larson speaks to thousands of women through her blog and conferences…and we are honored to welcome her to  Hudson on Sunday, March 28th at 6:30 pm.  The event will be held in the community room at Faith Community Church.

Ask Susie about her heart for women, and she’ll tell you, “The two pillars in my ministry, the two things I care most about are for women to be drawn into a ‘deeper life in Christ’ that they might live more ‘powerful lives on earth.’  When we pursue a thriving, personal, intimate walk of faith, we can’t help but be compelled to make a difference in our world.”   Susie also serves as a regular guest host for Along the Way —a two-hour talk radio show. In addition to authoring several books and many articles, Susie works as a freelance writer for Focus on the Family, and has been featured as a guest on radio and TV programs across the country, including Moody Midday Connection, Family Life Today, Chris Fabry Live!  Susie and her husband Kevin have been married since 1985 and have three wonderful, grown sons.

Susie will share thoughts from her recent book, “Embracing Your Freedom”.  While our culture places great emphasis on comfort, security, control, and success, Susie will challenge us to contend for the riskier territory marked by adventure, faith and miracles, recognizing that there are deeper rewards for those who take hold of God’s promises and who thus reach out in the Name of Christ.  Her aim is that we would have a deep knowledge of Jesus Christ.  Susie’s message is designed to create a first-hand experience of God’s heart for personal freedom, for the plight of the suffering, and for a conviction to get involved with His work among those in need.

We encouarge you to grab a friend and join us for this inspiring evening!  This event is free, doors open at 6:15 pm.  Coffee, tea, and treats will be served as you arrive and the program will begin at 6:30 pm.  Hope to see you there!

“Dwell: An Invitation from the Father” with Kathleen Selje

January 24th, 2010

With Christmas behind and Lisa Whelchel just ahead…it seems we simply need to catch our breath!  We invite you to join us for a regular LATTE event this Sunday night.  Come hear as Kathleen Selje encourages us to “Dwell: An Invitation from the Father”.                          Kathleen Retreat 2 bw

As we gather, we will consider: What does it mean that God desires to dwell with us?  How do we dwell with Him?  God has always longed to dwell with His people and that most definitely includes us!  With His Word as our guide, Kathleen will help us discover what it looks like to dwell in God in our daily lives this side of eternity, embracing Him as our favorite dwelling place.  Kathleen is the Upper Midwest Collegiate Navigator’s Women’s Ministry Director and just moved to Hudson this past summer. She has been on staff with the Navigators for the last thirteen years serving alongside her husband Chad, as a campus missionary to UW- Eau Claire, UW – Madison, and UW – Whitewater.  Currently she serves collegiate staff across the four state region (SD, ND, MN, WI) including the students and staff at UW River Falls. She has been actively involved in leading the women’s ministries wherever they have served and has also led Bible Studies and prayer groups encouraging students in their pursuit of God.  Kathleen’s passion for prayer and teaching God’s word makes speaking opportunities a delight for her soul.  She is a wife and mother of three who enjoys spending her “free” time in a variety of ways including reading fru-fru fiction books, drinking raspberry mochas with friends, and singing and playing piano.  One of her greatest sources of joy is simply uproarious laughter.  The coffee and tea will be hot by 6:15pm, so come fill your cup and join us in the Community Room on Sunday, January 31st.  The program will run from 6:30 – 8:30; we look forward to seeing you!

Loving Your Neighbor: Soul Care with Kristen Gray – Nov. 1st, 2009

October 22nd, 2009

“Can you hear me… now?!”

It has become a popular catch-phrase, but in a nutshell, it is the starting point for really caring.

Soul Care is a class that Kristen has taught with her husband of 16 years, Steve.

At our November LATTE, Kristen will harvest for us the nuggets of that class – illustrating how listening is the real start to understanding the needs of others and genuinely beginning to respond to them in a way that reflects the care and love our Savior lavishes upon us.

The Grays have attended FCC since 1993 and have 3 children.  Kristen served as the Director of Children’s Ministry from ‘97-’06 and also previously worked as a Special Ed aid in River Falls.  She loves to sew, quilt, read and swim but rarely all at the same time.

Join us at 6:15 to fill your cup and connect with other women (yes, even women can learn a few things about communication!) – You’ll be on your way by 8:30.

November News

Did you remember?  Committing God’s Word to Memory

If you joined us for last month’s kick-off event, you may recall a little skit we used to introduce our desire  to work together to commit God’s Word to memory.  We want you to know that our hope is not to add to your day yet one more thing to “do”, but rather to offer a chance for us to encourage one another in tucking scripture into our hearts where it will be ready to draw from in those everyday moments when you find yourself wishing you had just the right verse to pray through or share in a conversation!  If you want to take the plunge, continue using Isaiah 52:7, our theme verse for the year,  as your starting point.  See if you might be ready to commit it to memory before our next time together on November 1st…we dare you!

Receipt of Electronic Updates

Many of you have signed up to receive these regular monthly updates via e-mail.  We are doing are best both to accurately capture updated e-mail addresses as well as to keep the LATTE website updated with timely and accurate information.  We also and know that some of you may have received a randomly generated update this past week containing last year’s information.   We appreciate your patience as we are learning how to use this tool, including working out the final tweaks for uploading audio messages.

CHRISTMAS IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER!

And so is the opportunity for you to secure a ticket and RSVP for the FREE Jill Pearson concert on December 6th.   As in past years, we will be offering tickets for this event in hard copy form from the church office as well as the Ministry Du Jour booth.  We will also be adding the opportunity for you to secure your RSVP electronically beginning at www.faithcommunity.info/LATTE beginning Monday, Nov. 2nd.  We simply ask that you consider this free ticket as your intended attendance, as we do have a limited number of seats at a table as well as preparing sufficient amounts of desserts and treats for the evening!

May 3rd LATTE

April 23rd, 2009

Sunday May 3rd,  6:30 – 8:30 pm
“God’s Healing after an Abortion”
FCC Community Room

Don’t think “Aw, this wouldn’t apply to me.”  Realistically, abortion and its far-reaching effects touch us ALL.

Carla’s words: “I had an abortion in 1990 that sent my life into a spiral of self-destructive behavior.  I have found healing and forgiveness in Christ and I long for both women and men to find that as well.”

“I continue to walk this journey and know that there are men and women that need to feel the unconditional love from someone who has “been there.”  I was alone and broken for a very long time and I can hardly bear the thought that others are struggling with abortion regret.”

“I prayed for years that God would show me what he wants me to do with my story and now He has.  I am to go where He sends me and tell others of His grace and mercy for my good and for His glory.”

Carla Stream and her husband Patrick have been attending FCC for 14 years.  They have four children: Joshua [12], Sarah [8], Nathan[5], and Timothy [3].

Come at 6:15 to fill your cup. If unable to attend please visit Carla’s Blog at OutcryWisconsin.blogspot.com.

Please remember to bring your coin-filled baby bottles for the River Falls Pregnancy Hotline.
