What to Expect
Is it going to be weird?
Wondering what you'll find when you attend a weekend worship service?
Here's a general play-by-play.
Come on In
- You will be greeted at the door by friendly people to hold the door for you. They can help you find any place you need. There is an information booth in the lobby across from the office. As you enter the auditorium an usher will have a worship folder (bulletin) for you (children's bulletins are also available).
Have a Seat
- Sit wherever you like in the auditorium. Nobody bites and there are no assigned sections.
Let's Get Rolling
- At 8:45 and 10:30 AM, (6:00 PM on Saturday night) the band starts leading us in worship. If you don't know the words, we have them displayed on 3 movie screens right up front.
- We also have classes, called Lifeshaping, during the school year that run concurrent with the Sunday services in various classrooms. Visitors are welcome.
Pass the Plate (giving money as worship)
- We collect an offering every Sunday. Visitors, don't feel a need give anything -we're just glad you are here. Instead, we ask you to place a communication card in the bag when it's passed by. Somebody plays music or sings a song while this happens.
The Message
- The teaching pastor will take the podium to talk for about 35 minutes. There are bibles in the chairs in front of you, and the bulletin you got from an usher tells you on what page number the text is located. Often there are notes on the screen so you can follow along easily.
Respond with worship
- After the message, the band usually leads again in song. Sometimes the teaching pastor will guide us in response to the message with prayer or reflection.
- A pastor will dismiss us with a benediction (blessing).
After the service we give everyone who wants to pray time with a prayer team member. This is a private time for you to respond to what you heard in the service and talk to God.
You are welcome to visit with anyone you meet and leave when you are ready.
